Straws Lane Pinot Noir 2021

From 36 year old vines, planted at a lofty 800 metres above sea level. Shows some creamy spicy oak, cherry, sage and mint, with a dried flower perfume and bresaola meatiness. Cherry and spice, orange peel, a sappy tomato flavour, a grainy skinsy grip to tannin, cool acidity, and a tight and ‘mineral’ finish of excellent length. Good, but needs time to settle.

Medium-full red with a tint of purple in the rim and a green-herb aroma that smacks of violets and sap, suggesting lots of stems and possibly slightly green stems. It's quite intense and the ample tannins are taut and firm, not green, but the wine is quite leafy throughout.
