Minnow Roussanne 2022

The emperor Tiberius, while taking voluntary exile at his villa on the isle of Capri, used to have his ‘minnows’ follow *very* closely behind him while he swam in his pool. My studies in ancient history made me aware of such things. Also, the screwcap did not *snap* on this wine, and came right off the bottle in one piece, as an aside, though the wine was obviously fine. Apricot and peach, honey and ginger, mint, mushrooms. It’s slippery and viscous, distinct truffle/umami thing happening, some preserved lemon bite and zest to acidity, powdery texture, a big hit of stonefruit and honey, with a musky ginger perfume lingering on a long glossy finish. It’s a lot of wine, but very good.
