The Wine Front on Minnows

May 10, 2019

Thanks to The Wine Front for these recent reviews of our Minnow wines, and 2017 Shiraz.

2018 Shadowfax Minnow White

Straight off the bat an easy wine to get into, albeit relatively simple in its make up. It’s got nashi pear and grassy scents going on alongide talc and fresh linen. Palate has some generosity but freshness, a smoothness, more of the nashi pear character and a light sage-like herbal note. Quite lovely actually. 91 points. Mike Bennie, The Wine Front April 2019

2018 Shadowfax Minnow Red
Earthy notes, whiffs of cherry cola, sniff of sarsaparilla. Nice start. Soft and juicy in the palate but lifted with brisk and bright, amaro-like acidity, set on feathery tannins, cool and crisp to finish. Nice, super gluggable wine of vitality and fruitiness, spice, earthiness. Like. 93 points. Mike Bennie, The Wine Front April 2019

2017 Shadowfax Shiraz
Red fruits, dried herb, spice, grilled meat. Redcurrant, jubes, spice, furry tannin, moderate acidity, sweetness and savoury dried herb and spice finish. Certainly into ‘Syrah’ style, as such. 91 points. Gary Walsh, The Wine Front April 2019
